Youth: Lectures - Speaking - Workshops

powerful, emotional, inspiring

Youth Empowerment Workshop - Emory University
2007

Calvin G. Sims, Sr. has lived an extraordinary life. He draws on that life to inspire others. For that reason, he is uniquely qualified to inspire any audience.

Abandoned as a child and left to virtually fend for himself in an abusive foster home where he was beaten, molested and neglected - Calvin was introduced to crime and gangs. The house he grew up in was the equivalent to a modern day crack house. Living in "Vine City Bottom," one of the most crime riddled, violent neighborhoods in 1950's Atlanta, he was given his first gun at age 9. At 16, in order to escape what he thought would surely be his demise, Calvin dropped out of school and joined the Marine Corp.

As a former Juvenile Delinquent, Calvin has the ability to relate to the young person in a way that is both rare and impressive. Young people trust him, they feel that he was one of them.

Calvin is able to talk to youth in terms of what they are currently feeling. He is able to connect.

Most importantly, he has credibility because he has lived what he is saying. Best said HE IS THE PROOF. And that is exactly why he does it.

Calvin is able to inspire the young audience with the story of his life and the subsequent attitude he developed that empowered him to achieve. In fact, Calvin Sims is often referred to as "The Over-Achiever."

And it is Over-achievement that he inspires and teaches.

You will never regret or forget the day that you invited this powerful speaker to inspire and motivate your youth group or organization.
